Microneedling in the comfort of your own home

Collagen induction therapy at home, after a proper skin consultation.

In short

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a pen-shaped device with very fine sterile needles to make tiny, controlled punctures in the top layers of the skin. We carry out microneedling in your home in and around Dartford, after a skin consultation. People often ask about it for skin texture and the look of scarring; results vary from person to person and usually involve a course of sessions, which we will talk through honestly before you book.

What to expect on the day

Your skin is cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied first. The treatment itself feels like a light scratching or vibration. Afterwards your skin will usually look pink, a bit like mild sunburn, for a day or two.

Aftercare

  • Avoid make-up for at least 24 hours
  • Keep your skin clean and use the products we recommend
  • Use a high-factor sunscreen and avoid strong sun for a few weeks
  • Skip swimming pools, saunas and intense exercise for 48 hours
  • Hold off on exfoliants and retinol until we say it is fine to restart

How it works

  1. Skin consultation

We talk about your skin, your medical history and what you are hoping for.

  2. Preparation

Your skin is cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied.

  3. Treatment

We work across the area using a new sterile needle cartridge.

  4. Aftercare

We soothe the skin and go through aftercare, including sun protection.

Who it may not be suitable for

This is not a complete list. We check suitability at your consultation and will tell you if a treatment is not right for you.

  • Active acne, cold sores, eczema or infection in the area being treated
  • Use of isotretinoin (a prescription acne medicine) in the last six months
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A tendency to keloid or raised scarring
  • Blood-thinning medicine or a bleeding disorder

Microneedling: common questions

Does microneedling hurt?

Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful, especially with numbing cream. Bonier areas such as the forehead can feel more noticeable.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Many people have a course of sessions a few weeks apart, but we will recommend a plan at your consultation and you are never committed to more than one.

Can microneedling be combined with PRP?

Yes. PRP can be applied to the skin during microneedling instead of a serum. See our PRP page for more.
